Preeth Ganapathy, IPS, improves her ranking in UPSC exam
Preeth Ganapathy, the first woman IPS officer from Kodagu, who is undergoing training at the National Police Academy in Hyderabad, has secured the 161st rank in the recent civil services examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.
Preeth had secured the 217th rank last time and she was selected for the Indian Police Service and allotted the Uttar Pradesh cadre.
According to her family sources, Preeth will be eligible for the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) this time and due to her seniority in the ranking, she could get a posting in South India. “We will take a decision shortly on whether to continue with the IPS, or take up IRS as the latter would enable her to stay close to the family,” these sources said.
It may be recalled that Preeth had secured the first rank in computer science and engineering examination conducted by the Vishveshvaraya Technological University (VTU) in Karnataka.
Preeth completed her Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science at R.V College of Engineering in the year 2008.
She completed her secondary education at the Sindhi High School, Bangalore with 92.6% and PUC at MES College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Bangalore with 95.6%.
Preeth is the daughter of Mookonda K Ganapathy and Gowri Ganapathy who hail from Bilugunda Village of Ammathy in Kodagu.
M.K. Ganapathy, who retired as a superintendent of police in Bangalore, had earned a reputation for his honesty and efficiency.
