Discover Coorg is about the tourist spots in Kodagu (Coorg) in Karnataka State was the first book authored by journalist P.T. Bopanna in 2006.
Initially, Bopanna had put together a website www.coorgtourisminfo.com in 2005. Since the traffic to the website was not encouraging, he decided to download the content and bring it out in the form of a printed book.
The book was a runaway success. Bopanna brought out two more editions of the book, each time adding more content. It was also translated into Kannada language.
Writer C.P. Belliappa has written the foreword for the book. Several writers have contributed articles to the book.
The late Mrs Bollera Jajie Mandanna, well-known consumer activist and former president of the Bangalore Kodava Samaja, has written on Kodava wedding. Bird-watcher Dr S.V. Narasimhan has penned an article on birds of Kodagu; Dr Boverianda Nanjamma Chinnappa has written on Kodagu cuisine, and Mrs. Chindamada Arati Monappa has contributed an article on Kodagu jewellery. There is a Kodagu recipe section for which content has been provided by Manavattira Sharada Mandana. Travel writer Priya Ganapathy has penned an article on a week-end tour plan for Kodagu.
There are write-ups about Kodagu festivals and the unique family hockey festival of the Kodavas. There is also a ‘fact file’ for the tourists visiting Kodagu.
There are over 40 colour photographs. The book has cartoons by Nala Ponnappa and photographs from internationally renowned wildlife photographers – Krupakar-Senani.
