COFFEE COUPLE: DR ANAND AND GEETA NANAIAH PEREIRA

By P.T. Bopanna
The coffee couple, Dr. Anand Titus Pereira and Geeta Nanaiah Pereira (in picture), have worked diligently on sustainable technologies on the foothills of the Western Ghats in Hassan district, Karnataka, and have come out with various practical recommendations which are of great benefit to coffee farmers world-wide.
Dr Anand, a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Geeta, who has a M.S. degree in Horticulture from the Oklahoma State University, USA, have published a book ‘Eco-friendly Shade Coffee’.
While researching for my book The Romance of Indian Coffee which won the Gourmand international award, the couple allowed me to use their research experiences and shared photographs.
