IN JEST: IF YOU ARE SINGLE AND READY TO MINGLE…

I was pleasantly surprised to receive a whatsapp forward from Kodava Samaja, Bengaluru, asking eligible singles (Coorgs) to join an event scheduled for May 15.

I am still not sure whether the whatsapp forward (in picture) is genuine because I was under the impression that Bangalore Kodava Samaja was an extension of the saffron brigade because of late it had become common for the Samaja to perform Brahminical rituals in its premises.

If the forward is genuine, I welcome the move by the Kodava Samaja Women’s Council to bring together eligible boys and girls.

In the past, I have been highlighting on the need for a dating app for Kodavas. I had suggested the creation of a dating app exclusively for Kodavas (Coorgs) to solve the growing inter-caste marriages involving mainly Kodava girls.

In the recent past, one of my posts on Kodava match-making had received good response. Hence I spoke to a cross-section of young Kodavas on the dating app issue. I was surprised by the overwhelming response for the proposal.

The whatsapp forward message from Kodava Samaja makes interesting reading. I get the feeling that the lines were written by a professional copywriter.

The message reads: “A relaxed, curated space for eligible Kodava singles. To connect through real conversations and shared interests. Just genuine interactions that spark meaningful connections.”

The timing of the event is interesting because it is in the evening, the right time for a romantic opening of conversations. And the dress code is casual.

And the whatsapp link has an attached form for registration. And some of my widowed friends and divorcees wanted to know whether the event is open to them.

I checked with the Kodava Samaja on the authenticity of the event. Sources confirmed that they have started the process.

They will have many sessions over a period of time. In the first batch on May 15, those who are around 35 years will be called. Gradually, the age group will be reduced and the younger ones will get a chance. During registration for the event, a candidate has to mention the age. Based on the age, the candidates will be invited.
